TAFE NSW: International Student Guides

For the international section of TAFE NSW, the annual International Student Guide was the major piece of promotional collateral to attract international students. The guides themselves were targeted at both international education agents and to students themselves.

Previous guides had been crammed with information and were not user-friendly at all, so my first step was to convince the stakeholders to embrace a cleaner, more modern design style. The guide had to be more welcoming and information presented in such a way that it was easy to find and digest – the aim was to reinforce the idea that, once the student arrived in the country, all aspects of their stay, including the course itself, would run very smoothly.

Despite the tight time frame, I was able to create a totally new approach to the design of the document. The structure was overhauled and made far more intuitive in terms of information presentation, the design utilising a graphic style that the students would be used to seeing on websites and smartphones. The job was completed on time and judged a huge success amongst international student agents and the students themselves.

The same deign style was repeated the following year and for the cover I was asked to drop in real TAFE NSW students. To do this I had to do some heavy Photoshop lifting, which is the subject of another job in this portfolio.
